Cusco, Peru

Off to Cusco, Peru.

I'm flying there -- from Arequipa to Cusco. Pretty short flight, maybe 40 minutes or so.

The decision to fly to Cusco will make my vacation being spent in ten airports in eleven days. Fun.

Another back of the bus loading for me...

Coca tea at the hotel. Trying any advantage to keep rolling and get what needs to be done to fill the vacation as best as I can.

I mentioned the coca tea as once in Cusco, I needed to go to the train station to book a train to Agua Calienties to see Manchu Pichu, and then had to go to the Something Office to buy a ticket to visit Manchu Pichu, then back to the train station to pick a better time.

Used a cab to go back and forth to each office -- and waited in line, sometimes multible lines -- to get what we needed. Take a number and wait, DMV style!

Line out the door at the visit Manchu Pichu shop...

This is a view on the road driving from Cusco to Pisac, Peru. Pisac is a small town, and the closest town to the ancient Inca ruins also called Pisac. I believe that this area is called 'Sacred Valley.'

Pisac is a charming little town and I thoroughly enjoyed my short time there!

While being shuttled between 'Visit Manchu Pichu' and 'Take the Train' offices we became friends with a taxi driver. Jose is in school to be a chef, he drives a taxi on his off time. We hired him for a half day to drive us out to Pisac the town and Pisac the ruins. A great idea! Let's say it was mine.

Locals waiting along pull outs -- either selling goods, or dressed for photographs. This group were so nice and friendly, so they got some Soles from me.

Pisac. Pisac is a small town, maybe the size of just the downtown section of Los Gatos. It has -- like all Peruvian towns a large central market, a downtown, and a tourist market.

Cute, rustic as heck buildings. This photo makes it look empty, but it was a busy town. Locals, tourists, and the usual allotment of tour busses everywhere.

Almost all walkways have drainage channels running down the middle of the path. This particular walkway is Pisac had a craved snake head fashioned into the design.

This is the courtyard entrance to a price house in Pisac. We went in to see the chickens, and then all of a sudden deft awkward and left...

Love those doors. Let's call this one 'Pisac Blue with Lattice.'

That dark spot back there is a giand living room sized wood fired oven. Had an empanada.

Tasty treat!

This spot had a guinea pig condo on display -- but they weren't frying up the little fellas. That green box is a tip jar -- I dropped a coin.

This is somewhere in Pisac -- can't remember...

Can't remember #2.

Bathroom,  coca tea, and a bit of wifi at the Blue Llama.

Blue Llama had a fun vibe to it. This is one of the pieces of art hanging in the restaurant -- next post will open with a panoramic photograph taken in the men's room. Stay tuned!
